My Journey
My Lupus Journey started in 2002 when I first experienced various types of skin issues where rashes and redness would appear throughout my body. Due to the inconsistent presence of those issues, my doctors would only treat the issue if it persisted long enough. In 2004, I started experiencing other lupus issues such as swollen joints and fevers. These symptoms would also appear then disappear. By 2005, I had my first experience where multiple symptoms occurred at once. Once of the symptoms that finally brought the needed attention was the failure of my kidneys. I was officially diagnosis with lupus nephritis in 2005. Due to severe attack on my kidneys, I was eventually placed on dialysis - which is the process of filtering my blood since my kidneys did not function. The photos below show the swelling in my legs from my lupus flare and the dialysis treatment I had to endure 3 times a week for over 10 years before getting a kidney transplant in 2019.
